CW Teases Huge 2025 NASCAR Broadcasting Change

The CW is considering a significant transformation in its NASCAR broadcasting approach by 2025. In collaboration with NASCAR, the network is exploring the possibility of remote broadcasting from the NASCAR Studios, nestled just outside Charlotte, North Carolina.

Industry insights from Adam Stern of the Sports Business Journal have unveiled these discussions, which are still in the preliminary stages, indicating that not all races will be remotely broadcasted from the studio. There will still be some live broadcasts directly from the tracks.

NASCAR Studios, established late last year, emerges as a cutting-edge facility poised to potentially revolutionize how audiences engage with races. Should this plan proceed, the shift to remote broadcasting could capitalize on the post-pandemic trend where media outlets have embraced remote operations without sacrificing quality. Despite this new approach, The CW is committed to preserving a strong on-site presence by deploying production team members and pit reporters at the events, ensuring comprehensive coverage remains unmarred.

The CW has already initiated its NASCAR journey ahead of schedule by airing the final eight races of the Xfinity Series, courtesy of an understanding with NBC Sports. This early access is part of The CW’s preparation for its long-term, $115 million-per-year broadcasting contract set to begin in 2025.
