Toddler’s Comment During Bedtime Stuns Dad, His Reaction Is Everything
A baby cam captured the adorable moment a dad was caught off guard by what his toddler said for the very first time, and his reaction has melted hearts across the internet.
While putting his one-year-old daughter, Ivy May, to bed recently, dad Arturo Duran was left speechless by the toddler’s adorable outburst. The memorable encounter was caught on the baby monitor, showing Arturo placing Ivy May into her crib while telling her how much he loves her.
He certainly didn’t expect what followed, and his scream of excitement left his wife, Jahaira Duran, of Wellington, Florida, wondering what happened. After checking the monitor, Jahaira, 34, told Newsweek that she “just melted” at what she saw.
After Arturo said “I love you” to Ivy May, she instantly repeated it to him, marking the first time she’d ever said it. The proud dad couldn’t hide his excitement, as Jahaira said his was “the sweetest reaction.”

Jahaira said: “My husband was putting Ivy to bed as he usually does and saying ‘I love you’ like he always does, except for the first time it sounded like she repeated it back, so he said it once more and she said, ‘I love you’ back so clearly.
“I heard him say ‘oh my God’ from the other room and shortly after he came in running telling me all about it. You can just see in the footage how genuinely shocked and happy he was. It was pure, real emotion,” she continued.
While the parents have been trying to get Ivy May to repeat the phrase since then, that moment was the clearest she has managed to articulate it.
So delighted by the experience, Jahaira shared the precious on TikTok (@bluethepig). Needless to say, the video has melted plenty of hearts across the internet, going viral with over 1.2 million views and more than 331,700 likes on TikTok at the time of writing.
The online reaction to the video is beyond anything Jahaira expected, telling Newsweek that it’s been “overwhelming in the best way.” She’s loved hearing from so many fellow parents about their own similar experiences, which has led to more than 660 comments on the viral TikTok post so far.
“We’re just really grateful we caught that moment on camera. It was something so small and personal to us, and the fact that it’s brought joy to so many people has been really meaningful,” Jahaira said.
“I’m also really excited to show people how fun and special being a parent can be. You always hear about the hard parts, but moments like these don’t get talked about enough and they’re really what make it all so worth it,” she continued.
Many social media users took to the comments to praise the heartwarming moment. One TikTok user wrote: “I would have started crying immediately.”
Another person replied: “You know his heart shattered in the best way possible. How sweet!”
While one comment reads: “I think i would show this to everyone every single day for the rest of my life lol.”
