Woman Literally Steps Into Girlfriend’s Shoes, for Most Heartwarming Reason
You can’t truly know your girlfriend unless you’ve walked a mile in her high heels.
It’s a challenge Bri Reyes was ready to accept when her girlfriend, Lo Reyes, was uncomfortable walking back to the car in heels after a night out. In February, the women, who share a last name but are not married, posted a video on TikTok under the handle @purabrilo that documented the spontaneous shoe swap.
The scene unfolded on a Friday night after the couple went on a date to their favorite rooftop restaurant, said Lo Reyes, 29. She told Newsweek that after dinner, the two wandered through city streets before returning to their car, as her discomfort in her 6-inch heels became unignorable. Bri Reyes, 27, immediately came to the rescue with the offer to swap shoes.

“At first, I just giggled thinking she was joking. She’s more of a tomboy,” Lo Reyes said. “But she insisted and started taking off her shoes in the middle of the garage. I thought it was really sweet, so I started recording.”
Lo Reyes said the impromptu gesture was not out of character for her “problem solver” girlfriend—but that didn’t make it any less profound. She said the small act illuminated significant dynamics within the couple’s relationship.
“It was such a simple yet meaningful gesture. She could see that I was in discomfort, and without hesitation, she jumped into my shoes,” Lo Reyes said. “In that moment, I realized how lucky I am to have someone who pays attention to the little details and is always there to support me, even in the smallest ways.”
For the couple, the shoe swap represented more than a moment of tenderness, Lo Reyes said. It also embodied a relationship they built on mutuality.
“We’re a team, always looking out for each other and finding joy in taking care of one another. It reflects the balance we have in our partnership—where our strengths and weaknesses complement each other,” Lo Reyes said. “[Bri’s] willingness to step into my shoes, both literally and metaphorically, signifies the mutual respect, understanding and love that define our relationship.”
The couple’s video has received 1.4 million likes since it was posted on TikTok, where extravagant displays of affection often reap millions of views. Their exchange shows it’s the little things that sometimes matter most.
“She loves to make me smile,” Lo Reyes said about her girlfriend. “And, not to mention, she ATE that strut up!”
