Nicki Minaj Breaks Staggering Record
Nicki Minaj has just made history as the highest-grossing touring female rapper.
Her Pink Friday 2 tour, which still has some dates left to play, just entered the top 10 of most profitable hip hop music tours.
Minaj, 41, has made $67 million, which puts her in the eighth place of the highest-grossing tours ahead of Travis Scott’s Astroworld tour and Drake’s Would You Like A Tour? series of concerts. Other rappers in the top 10 include 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, and Kanye West, according to Touring Data.
The “Starships” rapper celebrated her achievement on social media and pointed out that the tour still had more shows to complete, meaning she has the potential to make even more money.
“how can this be? We’re not even half way through, yet. 🎀🩷🙏🏽,” Minaj wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
She also teased that while there remained 15 more shows on the tour, she might be extending her run.
“I’m sure there’ll be more than 15 more shows tho babe. 🤫🎀🩷😝😘🙏🏽,” Minaj added on a repost of a fan celebrating her record.
Newsweek contacted Minaj’s representatives by email for comment.
Her fans, known colloquially as “Barbz”, praised her record.
“Only FEMALE on the list 🥰 Congratulations, Queen 👑❤️🔥,” replied @barbiefye.
Another fan, @onikaa4life, wrote: “Soooo proud of you 😍🩷. Congratulations my queen.”
User @banjothemodel wrote: “Legendary Mogul female hip hop artist of this century! Nicki Minaj 💖💖💖💖 we love you.”
“Yeah nobody is gonna be beating this anytime soon,” @yuhianka wrote elsewhere on X.
Minaj’s new record comes as she wraps up the North American leg of the Pink Friday 2 tour.
The tour, named after her most recent album, now heads to Europe for a series of dates.
The rapper is no stranger to breaking records since bursting onto the scene in 2007.
She has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide and has had the most top 10 singles of any female singer on the Billboard charts.
Minaj was the first female rapper to get more than one billion views on YouTube and tied with Rihanna as the first woman to have eight videos get one billion views on the platform.
Minaj recently found herself on a list of celebrities in the middle of a viral blocking campaign amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Social media launched “Operation Blockout,” where people have begun blocking popular celebrities on social media sites over their perceived inaction over the Israel-Hamas war.
Other celebrities on the list include Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé, Justin and Hailey Bieber.
