Woman Nearly Misses Flight at Airport for Very Important Reason—Llamas

A woman has gone viral for her incredible reaction to bumping into llamas while trying to catch a flight.

Chanel Williams, 30, told Newsweek that she had already had a crazy weekend before arriving at Portland International Airport, Oregon. The content creator had appeared at a Harry Potter fandom convention, having become known for her stellar impressions of character Professor McGonagall.

Williams, from Bristol in the U.K., has now gone viral for another impression. After randomly coming across the llamas, she burst out into quotes from Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove, in which the main character is turned into a llama by villain Yzma.

In a video shared to her account @chanwills0, which has racked up more than 1.3 million views in just one day, Williams said: “I’m really trying not to miss my flight, but there are llamas in the airport.”

The clip then showed her cuddling the fluffy, well-cared-for animals, posing for photos and following them through the airport. This was interspersed with spot-on impressions of the antagonist Yzma, voiced in the film by Eartha Kitt.

Williams said she did a double take when she first noticed the llamas in the airport, but quickly noticed a sign labeling them as therapy animals.

Having previously worked as an animal-assisted therapist (“but we never leveled up to llamas”), Williams said: “Oh, that tracks.”

Therapy animals are different from service animals: where the latter are specifically trained to help a person with a disability, therapy animals, such as dogs, go with their owners to volunteer in settings such as schools, hospitals and nursing homes.

Williams said the llamas were from Mnt Peaks Therapy Llamas & Alpacas in Washington. She added that the organization’s staff “seem like they do really great work in the community” after she began following the center on TikTok via its account @rojothellama.

The content creator did make her flight despite the llama distraction, but found out while on the plane that the Hozier concert she was rushing back to the U.K. for was canceled.

“So I’m really glad I got to hug a support llama to curb most of the disappointment,” Williams said.

Williams’ video soared in popularity both for the llamas as well as her Yzma impression, with commenters flocking to the video to praise her. One wrote: “Not you chasing after them screaming the most perfect Eartha Kitt impression!”

“No but your impression of Eartha Kitt is fantastic,” another posted, with a third writing: “This is so unreasonably funny. You have my vote for Yzma in the remake!”

And a fourth commented: “Genuinely idk [I don’t know] if I’d be more excited to see the llamas or someone screaming a perfect Eartha Kitt impression through the terminal.”

Williams, who described The Emperor’s New Groove as an “under appreciated Disney masterpiece,” said: “I would like to audition to play Yzma in any animated or live-action prequel or villain origin story if Disney ever decide to do that. So if you hear anything about that, lemme know!”
