Bill Belichick Has Been Added As An Analyst for Long-Running NFL Program

Former New England Patriots head coaching legend Bill Belichick is no longer an NFL coach, which is an occurrence that has not happened since the 1970s. While Belichick interviewed for the vacant Atlanta Falcons job, the team opted to go with former Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris as their new head coach.

Belichick then began to pivot to being more of a consultant, as he was spotted at colleges like Nebraska, where former Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule works. Belichick was also spotted at Washington, where his son Stephen works as defensive coordinator.

It appeared that Belichick was going to be heading to the collegiate level, but he instead accepted a job as an analyst on the “Manningcast” on ESPN. Though Belichick appeared on the program run by brothers Peyton and Eli Manning as a guest, he now has a full-time role with the program for the 2024 season.

And now, Belichick has added his second analyst role for the upcoming NFL season.

A new trailer for “Inside the NFL” shows that Ryan Clark Jr., Chris Long, and Chad Johnson are returning to the program. However, they will now be joined by Belichick, who will make his debut on the program that has been running since 1977.

“Inside the NFL” initially debuted on HBO in 1977, and spent 31 years on the network before moving to Showtime in 2008. It would remain there until 2021, moving to Paramount+ in 2021, and finally to The CW in 2023.

The format for “Inside the NFL” is a combination of studio analysis on top of breaking down footage from NFL Films from the previous week’s games. Though the crew consists of plenty of knowledge from players who know the ins and outs of football, Belichick will add an additional level of expertise.

Belichick is arguably one of the most prolific minds the NFL has ever seen, and the previously mentioned Coach Rhule made it a point to talk about that when the longtime Patriots HC stopped by Nebraska. Rhule revealed that Belichick spoke for four and a half hours straight with no breaks, just talking about football.

It is a bit strange that Belichick did not garner a job as a head coach, but he can now showcase his genius football mind on the “Manningcast” and “Inside the NFL.” It will be interesting to see if Belichick attempts another run at a coaching job in 2025 — but for now, he will try his hand in the analyst role.
