Brittany Mahomes Gives Her Opinion on Taylor Swift’s Impact on the NFL
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, shared her appreciation for Taylor Swift’s influence on football.
In an interview at the Chiefs’ 2024 Super Bowl ring ceremony on Thursday, June 13, Brittany revealed to E! News how the pop star’s high-profile relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has attracted young girls to the sport, creating a whole new generation of fans. “I love that it’s getting young girls into football,” Brittany said, adding that it has brought “a bunch of beautiful little girls” into the fanbase.
Husband Patrick echoed this sentiment, highlighting the positive impact the “Fortnight” singer has had on their children, Sterling, 3, and Bronze, 1, who now enjoy football even more with the pop star cheering from the stands. “We’re all big football fans in the Mahomes household,” Patrick said, “and big Taylor Swift fans as well.”
Patrick has previously praised Kelce for being with someone as driven and successful as Swift. “He’s lucky enough to be with a great girl and a great woman,” Patrick remarked during a December 2023 CBS Mornings interview. He admired the 14-time Grammy winner’s dedication to her craft, stating, “She’s top tier of her profession—and how she drives and she becomes that.” This, he believes, makes her a perfect match for Kelce.
Brittany recently gave her new pal a subtle nod in her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit shoot, which she shared a behind-the-scenes Reel of on her Instagram in May. Set to Swift’s song “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” the reel captures the 28-year-old in bold swimwear looks, including a string bikini and a unique one-piece, both in the Kansas City Chiefs signature red. Brittany captioned the reel, “A moment for @si_swimsuit launch day.” The shoot, photographed by Derek Kettela in Belize, is part of the 60th anniversary edition of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.
