Chargers’ Joey Bosa Exits Practice With New Injury
The Jim Harbaugh era is off to a rocky start, as the Los Angeles Chargers might be dealing with the reality of star edge rusher Joey Bosa being injured again. The Chargers engaged in a joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, and the team was all over the Rams’ offense.

Throughout the practice, the Chargers’ defense amassed multiple turnovers, and things were looking to be going the team’s way. However, a report indicated that Bosa had to exit practice early due to a wrist injury.
According to a report from The Athletic’s Daniel Popper, “Joey Bosa shaken up after rush in 11 on 11. Something with his left hand/wrist. Heading inside with trainers now. Bosa had been dominating practice.”
Bosa was apparently shaken up after a play during 11-on-11 drills and had to head inside with trainers. Though Popper did not detail the severity of the injury, he indicated that its something to do with the left hand or wrist of Bosa.
Losing Bosa would be a huge loss for the Chargers’ defense, which did not look dominant in 2023. That was in large part due to Bosa’s absence due to a pedal foot sprain in Week 11. The edge rusher was placed on IR and missed the remainder of the 2023 season.
Bosa also had a groin tear in the 2022 season, which kept him from playing for most of the season. Through two seasons, Bosa has only played in 14 games.
The Chargers are also betting big on having Bosa and fellow quarterback terror, Khalil Mack, on the field at the same time. The front office allowed wide receiver Keenan Allen to be traded to the Chicago Bears and saw wide receiver Mike Williams sign with the New York Jets.
Both had inflated contracts that would have put the Chargers in a precarious cap room situation. Instead, the team retained both Bosa and Mack on adjusted team-friendly deals.

If Bosa’s injury is anything more than minor, the front office might kick itself for allowing potential stars to walk while retaining a presumed injury-riddled player in Bosa.
Harbaugh will provide an update on the severity of Bosa’s new ailment in the coming days, and the team is likely going to be holding its breath for a best-case scenario. The defense looked spectacular on Sunday, but might look far less dynamic if Bosa is not able to suit up for an extended period.
