Chiefs vs Ravens Start Time: NFL Week 1 Opener Delayed
The beginning of the 2024 NFL season will have to wait just a little bit longer.
As the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens were preparing to kick off their seasons on Thursday night at Arrowhead Stadium, the Kansas City weather had other plans.
Due to lightning and rain in the area, the kickoff time for Thursday night’s game has been delayed.
When Will Chiefs vs Ravens Start?
As of this writing, per the NBC broadcast, Chiefs vs. Ravens is expected to kick off at 5:40 p.m. PT/8:40 p.m. ET. That’s a 20-minute delay from the initial start time.
Players and coaches on both teams were asked to clear the field around 6:45 p.m. local time, 35 minutes before the initial kickoff time. Fans were then asked to make their way to the concourse area due to inclement weather. Now, there will be at least a 20-minute delay.

The Chiefs are getting set for a potentially historic 2024 season. The Chiefs are looking to be the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls, and are looking for their fourth Super Bowl victory in six seasons.
The Ravens have other plans, though, and are looking to avenge their AFC Championship Game loss in Baltimore just over seven months ago. Quarterback Lamar Jackson, fresh off an MVP award, will attempt to put together a similar season in 2024 — but one that ends in better postseason luck.
The Chiefs are three-point favorites in the game, but many (including us at Newsweek Sports) are expecting the Ravens to come out hot and steal a win to open the 2024 season.
How to Watch Chiefs vs Ravens
The first game of the 2024 NFL season will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock. The television broadcast will continue to provide updates on the start time, and if there is another delay. As of now, there’s been no additional information provided outside of a 7:40 p.m. local time start.
The Ravens and Chiefs are kicking off the season on Thursday at Arrowhead Stadium. Then, on Friday, the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles will play their first game of the season in Brazil.
