Cowboys’ Mike McCarthy, Micah Parsons React to CeeDee Lamb’s Extension

The Dallas Cowboys officially extended All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb Monday, signing him to a four-year, $136 million deal. The deal included a record-breaking $38 million signing bonus and $100 million in guarantees, making Lamb the second-highest receiver in the NFL, per ESPN’s Todd Archer. Only Minnesota Vikings’ receiver Justin Jefferson earns more per year than Lamb.

Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons congratulated Lamb on the extension. “I couldn’t be more happy for CeeDee,” Parsons said, via Bleacher Report. “So congratulations to my brother CeeDee Lamb. It’s a dream to be partnered with you.”

Parsons will be one of the next Cowboys in line for an extension. The 2021 first-round pick and two-time All-Pro is entering his fourth NFL season and seems likely to get signed to a long-term deal next offseason.

The extension also means Lamb will return to Cowboys’ practices. Lamb did not participate in training camp or the preseason this offseason as he worked on negotiations with the team.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is excited to see Lamb back at practice, and the impact that will have on the rest of the team.

“Not only with what he brings to the table — we’ve been talking about what he does with his production — but when that big smile he walks in the locker room, everybody’s going to be fired up because that’s the kind of juice. He brings, that’s that type of energy to our locker room,” McCarthy said, via Archer.

Lamb’s return will give him nearly two weeks to practice with the team before their Week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns on Sep. 8.

The 25-year-old receiver earned his massive extension after a record-setting NFL season in 2023. Lamb caught 135 passes for 1,749 yards, both Cowboys’ franchise records. He recorded eight 100-yard games, including a 227-yard performance in Week 16 against the Detroit Lions. He led the NFL in receptions, finished second in receiving yards, and was third in receiving touchdowns a season ago.

The 6-foot-2 receiver also set two NFL records during the season, posting seven games over the season with at least 11 receptions, and recording three consecutive games with over 10 receptions and 150 yards.

Lamb has recorded three consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons and emerged as the Cowboys’ No. 1 receiver during this time. The Lamb-Dak Prescott connection proved critical in helping the Cowboys win the NFC East and finish top-five in total yards, top-three in passing yards, and first in points per game.
