Dogs Filmed Having Best Time Ever at Hockey Game: ‘We Made to Heaven’
When your favorite sports game comes to a close, it’s easy to feel a bit dejected. The excitement is over, and let’s not even talk about how you feel when your team took a thumping. But there’s no post-match blues for these adorable pups, who took to the ice after the final whistle.
TikTok user (@katiemagz) posted a video on March 5 showing the two dogs being allowed onto the ice, where they got to run around freely and chase after more pucks than they could ever dream of. The ice was covered with red pucks bouncing around, and the dogs could hardly contain their excitement.
Needless to say, the clip has delighted many TikTok users, and it’s already amassed over 2.6 million views and more than 198,500 likes in a matter of days. Poster @katiemagz wrote over the video: “Need a serotonin boost? These dog owners let their dogs off leash during chuck a puck, and it was beautiful.”
While dogs can walk on ice briefly, the Animal Humane Society recommends that they shouldn’t be exposed to it for long as it can dry out their paw pads and leave them cracked. They liken this to humans getting chapped lips, which can be uncomfortable at times.
There are numerous ways to help dogs who love a bit of ice hockey or perhaps love the wintry weather outside. The Animal Humane Society recommends putting boots on your dog, which protect their paws. While dogs may take a while to adjust to them, they are considered the safest option.
Other ideas include a paw balm to keep their paw pads well looked after and wiping their paws immediately after coming inside to remove any residue from outside.
Whatever works best for your four-legged friend, it’s all about minimizing the contact with harsh salt or chemicals that are used during extreme weather to prevent snow from sticking. These materials can often get lodged between a dog’s toes.
Regardless of how cold the ice was, these two dogs had a blast roaming around and chasing after all the pucks that were being thrown onto the rink. They must hope it becomes a regular event.
Since the clip went viral on TikTok, it has already gotten over 800 comments, and many people cited the dog’s sheer enjoyment.
One comment reads: “Yay! We made [it] to heaven Charlie!”
Another person joked: “They will never believe them at the dog park.”
Some social media users were concerned about their safety on the ice. One person wrote: “Slipping? Getting hit with one? It looks precious but they could get so hurt.”
Newsweek reached out to @katiemagz via email and Instagram for comment and could not verify the details of the case.
