On Thursday, the Senate confirmed John Ratcliffe as CIA director, marking the addition of the second member to President Donald Trump’s new Cabinet.
Ratcliffe, who previously served as director of national intelligence during Trump’s first term, is the first individual to have held both that position and the top post at the CIA, the nation’s leading intelligence agency.
A former federal prosecutor and Texas Republican, Ratcliffe gained prominence as a staunch defender of Trump during his time as a congressman, especially during Trump’s first impeachment.
The confirmation vote was 74-25.
