Hawaii Fireworks Incident Leaves 2 Dead, 22 Injured
A fireworks-related incident in Hawaii has left two people dead and 22 injured, according to a local news report.
The incident took place in Salt Lake-Aliamanu, a neighborhood near Honolulu, and Honolulu Emergency Medical Services have reached the scene, according to Hawaii News Now.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the Honolulu Police Department wrote: “Major Incident in the Salt Lake area HPD, HFD, and EMS are responding to a major incident in the area of Keaka Drive. Please avoid the area as first responders provide medical and other assistance.”
The incident comes after Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to another call in the Kalihi area on New Year’s Eve.
Paramedics at the scene suspected a 14-year-old boy was injured after a firework exploded in his hand. He was treated at the scene and has since been taken to a trauma center for advanced treatment.
This is a developing news story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
