Labrador Has Solo Thunderstorm ‘Rain Party,’ Refuses to Come Inside

A dog owner has shared a hilarious video detailing what her two dogs do on rainy days, and even though they are the same breed, the pups’ reactions couldn’t be any more different.

The viral video, shared Saturday on TikTok under the username @bustersworld4, shows one of the Labrador retrievers, Buster, having the time of his life in the pool, splashing in the water even though rain is pouring all over him.

“Everyone handles rain differently. Buster our disobedient pup… Has a rain party,” says the layover text displayed on the clip.

As it starts to rain harder, the owner can be heard trying to call the dog back home, but he completely ignores her: “Buster, it’s going to get pretty bad out there. Are you going to come in? It’s raining pretty bad.”

The second half of the video shows Scooby, the other Lab, lying on the carpet in the living room. He’s enjoying a restful day indoors and not even noticing the heavy rain that’s falling outside.

“Scooby, what are you doing, baby? Are you sleeping? You enjoying the rain?” the poster can be heard saying as the pup refuses to wake up and acknowledge her.

“Scooby would rather catch up on his sleep. Are you Buster or Scooby? Would you rather dance in the rain or sleep?” the caption says.

Meanwhile, Buster was still enjoying his one-dog party in the pool, disregarding his owner’s command to get back home.

“He will come in eventually or get blown away whichever comes first,” the caption says.

Most Labrador retrievers love water, and they never seem to get enough of it. But not all dogs love it, even those of the same species.

Dog wellness experts at the website Rover say if your dog’s only experience with water is during bath time, it may not like water in other situations. Moreover, if the dog has never seen anything bigger than a tub, larger bodies of water may overwhelm it.

But your dog’s aversion to water could just be part of its personality. “Some dogs are more anxious, period, and others aren’t inclined to take risks like diving into a suspicious new substance,” according to Rover.

There’s no need to worry if your dog doesn’t enjoy water because there are things you can do to show it how fun it can be. The first step is to take it slow and avoid forcing your dog into water. You can bribe your pet with treats. Start in calm waters so they are less frightened.

The video has so far received over 1.2 million views and 137,700 likes on the platform.

One user, Penny Lane, commented: “You go out and have a rain party with buster right now missy!”

P.s.it’s_ali said: “Rain never shows up very well on camera, so it must have been one heck of a downpour!”

Yumicastro8 added: “I want to know what Buster’s gonna do in the winter?”
