Man’s Reaction to Wife’s New Hairstyle Goes Viral

A woman with a dayslong hankering to chop off her hair finally got it cut, but she didn’t expect her husband’s reaction.

On August 29, TikTok user @emily_lopez1023 posted a video of her spouse’s first look at her new bob. The clip—which shows the man standing outside of his wife’s car with his mouth agape and eyes wide—has since gone viral, receiving 2.7 million views and more than 124,000 likes.

“When you didn’t tell your husband you were chopping your hair off and this is his reaction,” the poster captioned the video, in which her husband’s words of affirmation can be heard.

Newsweek has contacted @emily_lopez1023 for comment via TikTok. We could not verify the details of the case.

“No way! You look so hot. Wow,” he said. The poster told her husband she hadn’t expected him to come outside and “literally ducked” to avoid his gaze at first.

The poster also seems to be enjoying her new hairstyle, as other videos on her TikTok page feature her showing off her new bob at a viewer’s request and offering a styling tutorial.

In another video, the poster said she’d had the urge to cut her long hair for three days. After getting inspiration from TikTok, she booked an appointment without telling her husband.

“He was genuinely very shocked,” she said in the video.

Viewers took to the comments section to discuss her husband’s awed reaction. His first words, especially, made an impression.

“The ‘you look so hot!’ instead of ‘what did you do?'” one user wrote.

“The way we all just watched him fall in love all over again,” another added.

“He loves her because of her and not because of her looks, he’s one of the few men who know what it means to love someone, so cute,” a commenter said.

However, not everyone could relate to receiving such admiration from a spouse.

“I chopped my hair couple of weeks ago. My husband said my face looked fatter and like I was going through a midlife crisis,” a user wrote.

“My ex-husband once asked me after a haircut if I had complained to the manager,” another said.

Other users highlighted that moments of excitement, even if small, can last a lifetime in memory. One commenter wrote about her husband, who died a year ago, saying he was always more excited than she was to see her new haircut or color.

She said, “He was my biggest supporter and made [me] feel like a queen [every] time.”
