Olympian Erin Gemmell Preps for Taylor Swift Concert
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Team USA swimmer – and apparent Swiftie – Erin Gemmell found a delightful way to combine her Olympic games experience with her love for Taylor Swift.
During her down time at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Gemmell spent her evening crafting Swift-themed friendship bracelets with her roommate, fellow swimmer Torri Huske, ahead of their upcoming Eras Tour concert presumably later this year.
Gemmell, 19, shared a TikTok video from the Olympic village on Monday, July 29, showing how she and Huske have been keeping busy when not competing. In the video, the pair make beaded bracelets inspired by Swift’s music and show their creations off at the end.
“Me and my suite mate making bracelets in the Olympic village for her Taylor Swift concert because there’s always time for Taylor,” Gemmell captioned the video. The athletes created several bracelets one that read “Ms Americana,” a nod to the 14-time Grammy winner’s song “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince,” as well as one with red, white, and blue stars with the word “Paris,” highlighting both the host city of the 2024 Games and a track from Swift’s Midnights album.
The video also showed bracelets laid out on a table in the same layout and colors as the Olympic rings, representing their time at the games. Gemmell showed a look at some of their “Olympic Ring reject” bracelets as well, which she declared “still cute tho” in the caption.
The athlete’s caption also included a playful request to the songstress as well: “@Taylor Swift please tell us you watch swimming.” While Swift has yet to comment on the video, other Swifties took no shame in blowing up the comment section hyping up the swimmers.
“swiftie first, olympian second 💞💞💞 lol wishing you the best!!!!” noted one fan, while another said, “SWIFTIE SWIMMERS!! Enjoy!!” A third fan of the sport and Swift commented, “As a Swiftie and a swimmer this makes my heart happy 🫶🫶.” Fans remain hopeful that the 34-year-old singer will chime in soon.
