Pomeranian With the Cutest Sneeze Ever Wins Pet of the Week
This week we’ve seen a dog making the tough decision of which “annoying toy” to play with, and a Labrador’s hilarious reaction to a life-sized dog decoration.
We’ve also been enjoying funny pictures and videos from our readers for our Newsweek Pet of the Week.
If you want your pet to be in next week’s Pet of the Week line-up, follow the instructions at the end of this article to get involved.
Winner
This week’s Pet of the Week is Pepper, a 9-year-old Pomeranian who has the most irresistibly cute sneezing fits.
Pepper’s owner, Belinda Luther, told Newsweek: “He has the cutest sneeze and loves watching TV. He actually watches the screen and the characters. His favorite is The Secret Life of Pets.”
In a sweet video, Pepper is seen sitting in a cozy chair in the living room when he suddenly let out a series of tiny, high-pitched sneezes. With each sneeze, his fluffy body bounced slightly, adding to the adorableness.
Dogs, like humans, sneeze for a variety of reasons—whether it’s a reaction to something in their environment, excitement, or just a tickle in their nose.
Occasional sneezing is generally nothing to worry about, but persistent sneezing might be a sign of allergies or other health issues. If you’re concerned about your pet’s sneezing, it’s always best to consult a veterinarian.
Finalists
Our first finalist this week is Stardust, a Siamese cat who is the definition of a loving companion.
Describe as a “perfect cat” by owner Gabriel Miller, Stardust craves her owner’s attention the moment he walks through the door.
Whether it’s curling up on his lap, following him from room-to-room, or demanding gentle head scratches, Stardust makes sure Gabriel never feels alone.
Next up this week is Hudson River and Tucker Two, a pair of lively Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dogs who live with their owner Deana Nash.
“Can you guess which dog didn’t call shotgun?” Nash joked, alongside a picture of the pair in the car, one sitting in the front and the other, slightly less thrilled, in the back seat.
Thankfully, whether riding up front or chilling in the back, the two were sure to enjoy a fun trip to Savannah, Georgia, together.
Last but not least this week is “lovebugs” Panpan and Draco.
Panpan, a 6-year-old tortoiseshell cat, was shy and reclusive when Vickie Kinek adopted her three years ago, but thanks to love and patience he has blossomed into a sweet, affectionate pet.
While Draco, a striking orange cat weighing 16 pounds, is her loyal companion. Kinek said that Draco is more canine than a cat: “[He is] like my guard dog, always by my side. He can be needy at times, but how can you resist such a beautiful big boy,” she told Newsweek. “They truly are my kids.”
