Real-Life ‘Jurassic Park Dinosaur’ Found in Man’s Hotel Pool

A travel influencer had the shock of his life when he found what he calls a “Jurassic Park dinosaur” in his hotel pool while visiting Bali earlier this summer.

In a video shared on TikTok in July, which contains swearwords, under the username @danthomtravel, the poster shows the big reptile he found in his pool in Canggu. He asks his followers what it is and how dangerous it can be as he struggles to keep the creature in the water and away from him. “How do I get him out!?!? He is so aggressive!!” reads a caption shared along with the viral video.

The “dinosaur” swims in the pool. A man on holiday in Bali found a creature and asked for help in a video that has quickly gone viral on social media.

The poster, Daniel Thomassen from Norway, told Newsweek that he only learned it was a water lizard, related to the Komodo dragon but not as big or dangerous, after posting the clip. He said that he was shocked to find that it was actually just a small baby, and adults can grow as long as two meters (6.56 feet).

“I have been traveling for four months, and I was in Bali for a month when I encountered this monstrosity of an animal! He took over my pool and terrorized my dreams for a long time!

“I don’t know how they act when they are aggressive, but the tongue and claws were a horrendous sight. I have never seen a reptile like that before,” Thomassen added.

Komodo dragons are the largest existing lizard species and are usually found on the island of Komodo, and a few neighboring Lesser Sunda Islands of Indonesia. These lizards can grow up to 10 feet in total length and weigh about 300 pounds.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 776,000 views and 41,500 likes on the platform.

One user, KecoaJengkang, commented: “Sometimes they like to sneak under the bedcover. they like the warm feeling.”

Chaerin posted: “No worries, biawak is not poisonous like komodo. biawak are very harmless. near my house, biawak are scared of cats.”

Yooouk wrote: “This guy saw biawak and got scared of it, I played with that thing when I was a kid.”

Raph_ly added: “Nah, it’s biawak the cousin of Komodo, still the family of Godzilla.”
