Steve Bannon’s ‘WarRoom’ Podcast Issues Update Ahead of Jail Stint

The team behind Steve Bannon’s WarRoom podcast vowed to continue with their work while its host serves his four-month jail term.

In a statement issued ahead of Bannon surrendering to authorities, the WarRoom team said the success of the influential conservative podcast is not “solely dependent on a single individual, no matter how impactful” and that the “strength and resilience of WarRoom can be likened to an unbroken brass chain—fortified, enduring, and unyielding.”

Bannon, a former Donald Trump White House chief strategist, was sentenced to four months in October 2022 after he was found guilty of two counts of contempt of Congress for failing to respond to a subpoena issued to him by the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 attack.

The podcaster spent nearly two years avoiding starting his sentence while he fought against his conviction. Bannon argued that he didn’t comply with the congressional subpoena due to executive privilege, and that he was merely relying on the advice of his former lawyer.

The Supreme Court rejected Bannon’s last ditch appeal to remain out of jail while he appeals his conviction on Friday, meaning he must turn himself in on Monday, July 1, to start serving his time.

The WarRoom podcast has now said it will continue over the next four months under the leadership of its CEO, Bannon’s daughter, Maureen Bannon.

“The brief departure of a figure as prominent as Steve Bannon might seem like a significant shift, but WarRoom‘s strength lies in its collective identity,” the statement said. “Each member of the WarRoom Posse brings unique skills and perspectives that contribute to the platform’s overall energy. This diversity and unity are what make WarRoom resilient and capable of weathering any storm.

“In conclusion, WarRoom is much more than the sum of its parts. It is a resilient and impressively powerful entity, characterized by its unyielding dedication to its mission. As an unbroken brass chain, WarRoom will continue to press forward with strength and resolve, ensuring that its voice remains as powerful and influential as ever.”

WarRoom streams for four hours every weekday, with a two-hour show running on Saturdays.

Bannon’s office has been contacted for comment via email.

He is set to record one final episode of his podcast on Monday just prior to handing himself into authorities to begin his prison term, The Daily Beast reported.

“We’ll do the morning WarRoom to kick off a Monday just like everywhere, but I’ll do it outside the prison,” Bannon told The Daily Beast. “Then when I finish, I’ll drop the mic and then go surrender.”

Bannon said “it doesn’t matter” that he will be in prison and that WarRoom “will be bigger” in his absence.

“They’re making me a martyr. Steve Bannon is not. They’re the ones to overplay their hand,” he said.

GOP reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, and Lauren Boebert are among those said to be taking turns hosting WarRoom while Bannon serves his prison sentence.

In a statement, Maureen Bannon added: “The Left thinks they are going to silence WarRoom by putting my Dad, Stephen K. Bannon, in prison leading up to the election. What they don’t understand is they will NEVER silence WarRoom.”
