Touching Moment Golden Retriever ‘Soul Mates’ Reunite After 3 Weeks Apart

Prepare for your heart to melt as you watch two golden retrievers reunite after almost a month apart.

The emotional video shared by owner Yuni Lee, 36, (@gamjamypotato) has received more than 2.1 million views on TikTok. Lee, who lives in California, told Newsweek: “I didn’t expect them to hug when they saw each other.”

The footage shows 4-year-old Gamja video-calling his best bud Chip, who is 3, while they were apart. It is obvious that the darker golden Gamja is extremely fond of the younger dog as she can’t stop wagging her tail while watching the screen.

Lee added that the pair were separated as she and her partner, 36, had different schedules that required traveling. They were apart for about three weeks in total.

Lee said: “Gamja received lots of love, but occasionally she would look outside the window, which she doesn’t normally do when Chip is around, nor does Chip.

“She also lay around with a toy in her mouth and was more clingy to me,” she added.

The owner captured the moment when she took Gamja to the airport to see her partner and Chin. However, Gamja must have sensed it was time before they had even made it to the ground floor.

Gamja is seen peering over the balcony of the parking lot to see her friends at the airport’s exit. She wags her tail wildly and can hardly contain her excitement as she pulls on her lead to get Lee moving faster.

The touching scene where they are both released from their leads to run towards each other and embrace is then cut to in the video. Then, their owners get the same kind of hearty greeting—a hug and lots of kisses.

Lee told Newsweek: “I was more surprised when they went for the other human for hugs after their initial hug with each other. Gamja running to my husband and Chip running to me.”

Lee said that the dogs are ‘inseparable’ and describes them as ‘soul mates’.

So far, the video shared on March, 26, has received over 382,000 likes and almost 500 comments.

“The way they both hugged their other parent after hugging each other,” wrote one user.

“It’s the dog version of parent trap,” posted another, referring to the family film starring Lindsey Lohan in 1998.

A third commenter added: “This is the happiest thing I have ever seen.”

A fourth wrote: “This made my whole day!”

Boston-based dog behaviorist Kait Hembree previously shared the top signs that indicate your dog has missed you with Newsweek.

Hembree said: “Like us, dogs can be quite vocal when it comes to telling us how they feel. Their voice can be expressed through a variety of tones, including barking, whining, grumbling, cooing and even howling.”
