Watch Guardian Dogs All Leap Into Action Over Alert: ‘Dogvengers Assemble’

The idea that dogs are protective pack animals comes in full force on a California ranch as Anatolian shepherd dogs and their trusty border collie sidekick leap into action day in and day out to guard the livestock and property.

A recent TikTok video captured the moment these “dogvengers assembled.” The so-called leader of the pack, Bo, heard something and sent out an alert to the rest of the crew to protect the property. In no time at all, they gathered in true “Avengers” style.

Owner Samantha Draper told Newsweek she was in the back with 4-year-old Anatolian shepherd dog Lily when she first heard Bo bark. Draper is unsure what set him off, but the ranch will sometimes get coyotes, loose dogs and other predators.

One quick bark from Bo had Lily, another Anatolian shepherd named Judge and Pete the border collie assemble in marvelous fashion to fend off the threat.

“The livestock guardian dogs have keen senses and will react powerfully if they sense any threat to the animals they protect,” said Draper. “They do not take chances. In 7 years, they have never lost an animal to a predator.”

These “dogvengers” protect the ranch’s goats, sheep, chickens, mini equine, alpacas and mini steers.

Draper said Bo, the oldest and wisest dog of the pack, is respected among the other dogs. They look up to him for leadership and guidance.

The November 19 TikTok video, which was posted to the account @raventreeranch, brought in over 305,900 views and 23,400 likes. Viewers were impressed with their quick response to jump in and save the ranch.

“They aren’t to be messed with when it comes to protecting their farm. Great job guys and keep it up,” said one user.

Another person added: “Best Avengers movie I have ever seen!”

Anatolian Shepherd Dog

These working, protective dogs, originally from Turkey, are a historical breed that can be dated to 2,000 B.C., the Anatolian Shepherd Dog Club of America states. The breed comes from a long lineage of serving humans.

Anatolian shepherd dogs are protective and territorial, but also intelligent, loyal and patient, according to the American Kennel Club. These dogs are not afraid to protect their livestock, children, smaller dogs and even the family cat. They can weigh up to 150 pounds and stand from 27 to 29 inches.
