Why Is Courteney Cox Trolling Her Own Bikini Body?
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Ever wonder what it takes to stay fabulously fit at 60 years old? Just ask Courteney Cox, who recently turned the big 6-0 and isn’t shy about poking fun at her own expense. On Monday, July 8, the Friends star gave her Instagram followers a peek into her not-so-secret weapon against aging: a mix of humor, hard workouts, and a splash of extreme cold.
Cox’s day kicked off in the gym, where she candidly shared her feelings about getting older. “So I just had a birthday,” she remarked while powering through seated arm rows and squats. “Don’t love the number, but look, we have no choice. You just gotta do the best you can.” Decked out in a sleek black sports bra and matching leggings, she showcased the fitness regime that keeps her looking toned — from pull-ups to crunches and everything in between.
But it was the twist at the end of her workout video that had fans amused. Transitioning from gym gear to a chic black bikini, the Emmy Awards nominee crawled out of what looked like an industrial-sized freezer. “What, it’s cryotherapy?” Cox quipped. She also rocked a sheet mask and a red-light therapy baseball hat inside the chamber.
“Ha ha, now that is an ending,” one person said.
“Jajajajajaja you are still so funny 🤣” laughed another.
“I need one of those freezers!!🥶” chimed in a third.
It’s not the first time Cox has braved the cold. On Monday, February 5, she shared her attempt at an icy plunge on Instagram via a “photo dump.” As the celebrity prepared to take the dip, she is seen asking the cameraman whether her thick black socks counted as cheating because “your feet get really f—king cold.”
In an interview with Glamour last year, Cox explained how she believed she “would never do a cold plunge” and ultimately thought she’d hate it, but that certainly hasn’t been the case. “I love it so much. I feel great for hours afterwards,” she told the publication. “So as much as you dread getting in, you know that you’re going to feel so good.”
As Cox continues to challenge the norms of aging and beauty in Hollywood, one can’t help but admire her spirited take on staying fit, proving that sometimes, you really do just have to chill out to feel great.
